Introduction:
The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Tallaght Report of 2012 found care of lodged admitted patients on ED trolleys was undermined in terms of quality and safety. HIQA advised the practice of lodging in ED adjacent hospital corridors should be discontinued entirely. This message was reiterated during the pandemic. Some lodged patients may spend the total duration of their admission on an ED trolley. ED has 15 Adult rooms, seven pediatric rooms, two minor injury rooms, one procedure room and two resus bays. The aim was to calculate the annual number of days when no admitted patients were lodged on trolleys in ED.
Method:A descriptive study using data available from nationally issued reports on patients allocated to trolleys to the ED of Wexford General Hospital from January 2019-September 2022. Data was collected from national HSE daily SBAR reports. “Lodged patients” were those present in ED admitted but for whom no ward bed existed at 0745 daily.
Results:Data was collected for 1,369 days, 90 days were excluded due to missing data sets, and data were included for 1,279 days. 290 days were recorded in 2019 with no lodged patients, 126 in 2020, 55 in 2021, and only 11 days in 2022 with no lodged patients. In 2022 the average number of lodged patients was six (Range 0-19). A total of 47 days had a lodged count of ten or greater.
Conclusion:Despite a strong recommendation from HIQA to terminate the practice of ED patient lodging, this has not been implemented. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there had been a reduction in the overall number of patients visiting the ED. This contributed to the reduction in trolley-lodged patients however post-COVID pandemic there has been a surge in attendance with a clear deficit in bed capacity.

Introduction:
Health service capacity has been an issue in Ireland since the 1980s swinging cuts. Government reports from 2003 have consistently identified a requirement for 3,000-5,000 extra beds on top of the current approximately 10,500 capacity. Acute hospital bed capacity issues have escalated, the formal system of recording “over capacity” patients or “patients on trolleys” has developed. A “Trolleygar” reports issues from the Health Service Executive (HSE) three times daily. This count is an underestimate as patients temporarily housed in day care units, surgical, or medical assessment units, discharge lounges and other clinical areas which have a bed space are not counted in this overcapacity measure. This study's aim is to calculate the annual number of days on which no patients were lodged on trolleys in Wexford General Hospital.
Method:Descriptive study using anonymized freely available data from the national HSE Trolley GAR reports on trolley patients in Wexford General Hospital from January 2019 until September 2022. A Golden Zero trolley day was stated as a day on which there were no reported trolley-patients at the three time points, Silver Zero trolley day when two of the time periods recorded no trolleys and a Bronze Zero Trolley day when one period recorded a zero trolley count.
Results:Data was collected on 1,369 days, with 90 days excluded due to missing data sets. There were 162 Golden days recorded (12.67% of total days). The year 2020 recorded the highest number of Golden days at 28.69% (105 days), followed by 2021 with 11.23% (41 days). During 2019 there were 3.84% (14 days) Golden days and 2022 had the lowest number (January-September) with 0.73% (2 days).
Conclusion:Despite a zero-tolerance policy, Golden days are disappearing rapidly, capacity is urgently required with post-pandemic ED attendance surges worldwide. True recording of overcapacity patients is required for appropriate capacity modeling.

This paper proposes a novel multi-scale fluid flow data assimilation approach, which integrates and complements the advantages of a Bayesian sequential assimilation technique, the Weighted Ensemble Kalman filter (WEnKF) [27]. The data assimilation proposed in this work incorporates measurement brought by an efficient multiscale stochastic formulation of the well-known Lucas-Kanade (LK) estimator. This estimator has the great advantage to provide uncertainties associated to the motion measurements at different scales. The proposed assimilation scheme benefits from this multi-scale uncertainty information and enables to enforce a physically plausible dynamical consistency of the estimated motion fields along the image sequence. Experimental evaluations are presented on synthetic and real fluid flow sequences.

Summary
The present number is intended as the integral portion of a publication of no inconsiderable magnitude on the insects of North America.
But little, I might almost say nothing, has yet been done in the United States, in relation to the very interesting and important science upon which this work is intended to treat; while, in other departments of natural history, we have publications honourable to the republic, there is not, as far as I know, in the archives of American science, the record of an indigenous work on this subject.
In Europe, a celebrated writer informs us, the insects, so numerous, so diversified in their characters, in their colouring so elegant and varied, and so singular in their manner, have so much interest under these different relations, that of all the animals, they have been the most observed, the most studied, and are those upon which the labours of naturalists have been the most exercised. But in the United States, entomology, of all the sciences, has been regarded with the least attention by the learned. The attractive charms of natural history have, indeed, with us, allured many votaries; but these, in general, choose those departments for their study of which the knowledge is more readily acquired, and where the labour of initiation is not arduous or protracted. Hence the higher departments of zoology, botany, &c. are more frequently selected, offering as they do more prominent and obvious characters, easily detected by the investigator.

Summary
Read February 4, 1819
I have before me a specimen of ocythoe in an argonauta, forming part of the collection of the Acad. of Nat. Sciences. It was taken from the stomach of a dolphin, which was caught in soundings on our Atlantic coast, and is in the most perfect state of preservation, not having suffered the slightest decomposition from gastric action.
It is sufficiently distinct from your O. cranchii, as well as from the animal of Nautilus sulcatus of Klein; and if the figure given by Shaw of the animal of Argonauta argo has any pretensions to accuracy, it is most probably an unknown species.
I here attempt a description of it, and also submit a few remarks on the genus.
Ocythoe punctata
Body pale, punctured with purplish; abdomen conic-compressed, vertical, semifasciate near the summit, with a profoundly indented transverse line; arms much longer than the body, attenuated, filiform at their tips, alated; membranes rounded.
Inhabits the Atlantic ocean near the North American coast.
Descrip. Abdomen conical, slightly compressed, nearly vertical with respect to the disk of the head, with a profoundly indented transverse line, which extends half round, near the summit.

Summary
It will perhaps be thought necessary, previous to entering into a technical detail of the characters of the genus Cicindela, and of the indigenous individuals which are comprehended by it, that some account of the manners of this sprightly tribe should be given, and of such circumstances, relating to them, as may serve to present them to the recollections of the general observer. I shall accordingly proceed to state, that these insects usually frequent arid, denudated soils; are very agile, run with greater celerity than the majority of the vast order to which they belong; and rise upon the wing, almost with the facility of the common fly. They are always to be seen, during the warm season, in roads or pathways, open to the sun, where the earth is beaten firm and level. At the approach of the traveler, they fly up suddenly to the height of a few feet, pursuing then a horizontal course, and alighting again at a short distance in advance, as suddenly as they arose. The same individual may be roused again and again, but when he perceives himself the object of a particular pursuit, he evades the danger by a distant and circuitous flight, usually directed towards his original station. It is worthy of observation, as a peculiarity common to the species, that when they alight, after having been driven from their previous position, they usually perform an evolution in the air near the earth, so as to bring the head in the direction of the advancing danger, in order to be the more certainly warned of its too near approach.
